Speech by Ms Reding, European Commission, following adoption by the European Parliament of the proposal for a regulation on international successions. Ms Reding underlines the importance of informing the general public about this new legislative instrument. To this end, and with the European Commission's support, the Notaries of Europe set up a free information resource: the 'Successions in Europe' website. Thanks to this website, citizens can access information on the successions law in any Member State in the language of their choice. The website provides all the information necessary to follow and understand the steps involved in a succession.
